Here App

Become a Teen Advisor

Trained volunteer Teen Advisors are at the core of the Here App. Teen Advisors serve as vital support to app users who want to talk to someone their own age who understands what they are going through.

A Unique Volunteer Experience

Teen Advisors participate in comprehensive training and commit to two shifts per month for one year.

Teens in High School are invited to apply to become a volunteer with the Here App. Teen Advisors complete their volunteer experience remotely, allowing them the flexibility to make a difference volunteering while still managing their other commitments.

Teens receive supervision and support from professional clinicians while providing support as a teen advisor on the app.

Comprehensive Training

With a focus on understanding values and bias, the Here App training exposes teens to the variety of experiences they will encounter on the app. Teens learn reflective communication skills, crisis intervention and how to recognize the signs of mental health struggles. Teen Advisors are trained to provide a nonjudgmental space for teens to vent and feel seen by their peers.

Teen Advisors learn coping skills throughout their training to support users as well as to utilize in their own lives. Through the Here App training, volunteers are empowered to become mental health ambassadors off the app as well. Teen advisors often become leaders in spreading awareness and support within their schools, families and communities.

As a nonprofit organization, Here App is committed to providing accessible, high-quality support for both our volunteers and app users. To help cover the costs of delivering professional training and ongoing support, we ask families who can to contribute toward the cost of volunteer training.

The one-time cost to train and support a Teen Advisor is $1,200.

We believe every teen who is interested in becoming a Teen Advisor should have the opportunity to participate. To ensure cost is never a barrier, we offer flexible payment plans as well as full and partial scholarships for families who need financial assistance.

If you have questions, please reach out. You can email us at support@teentalkapp.org or complete the application, and a member of our team will follow up with you.

To become a trained Teen Advisor, applicants must complete an application and, if selected, participate in an interview. Accepted teens will then attend a live, virtual training conducted via Zoom alongside other teens who are passionate about supporting their peers.
